where to buy your summer menswear

and what pieces to cop!

Welcome to clipboard, a weekly newsletter about clothes, hospo, and Tāmaki Makaurau, by Reilly Hodson. This week: where to shop and what to buy now the weather is heating up.

Good Shops

This week was a truly summery week. The weather has truly turned it on, and now it’s time to dress for the weather. Here’s a quick roundup of where to buy your summer wardrobe, and what you should buy there.

Checks Downtown

Checks has been a staple of clipboard since it started, and it was also the first business that ever paid me to make content, back when I was trying my hand at photography (and modelling). For me, the summer is where Checks’ attention-grabbing, statement-making pieces come into their own.

What I’m buying: Colour Block Cardigan (pictured above), this yet to be released sweater vest, this whole fit (dropping this week)

Good As Gold

The creme de la creme of Wellington fashion, Good As Gold is the one store I regularly check the “new arrivals” page on. They get in the best of local and global brands, and they’re also just good folks! Worth a visit whenever you’re in Welly.

Inward Goods

After months of prep, memorable pieces for multiple friends of clipboard, and one unfortunate incident with a laundromat, Blair Hetet’s brand Inward Goods has finally launched its first range online. Just excellent, classic pieces, inspired by sportswear, military, workwear and New Zealand. Inward Goods will be my next stop when payday rolls around.

What I’m buying: Work pants, LS Work Shirt

Indigo and Provisions

Christchurch may note be where you’d expect to find New Zealand’s best classic workwear and denim boutique, and yet here we are. The Indigo and Provisions team bring in excellent brands from around the place, and their Instagram is a great follow.

Other Great Stores:

That’s all for clipboard this week, thanks for reading! A short, sweet one this week as I’m on the edge of burnout. If you want more great summer recs, you can find my article from last week’s Sunday magazine here. See you next Sunday!
