I'm (sort of) actually taking the long weekend
Welcome to clipboard, a weekly newsletter about clothes, hospo and Tāmaki Makaurau, by Reilly Hodson. This week, I’m sharing some good links from the week that was, and taking the rest of the long weekend off. If you enjoy clipboard, you can chip in financially by clicking the button below.

Because it’s a long weekend, this week’s newsletter has landed on a Monday, and in the spirit of the working person’s holiday, I’m going to take it easy this week, and besides, there’s heaps to share. Here are a bunch of cool links and things going on. I’ll see you back next week where I will be back better than ever!
I’ve recently discovered Sprezza, another cool menswear-adjacent email newsletter. It’s a good read if you want to just see cool clothes to buy, and who among us doesn’t?
M.N. Uniform has the tote bags you need for summer trips and picnics. The Natural Carryall has handy outer pockets, and comes in your choice of bottle green or navy lining, very chic, and the Picnic bag is lined with space for 3 bottles of wine, natural or otherwise.
Why we need to stop applauding men for “subverting masculinity,” when they’re really just wearing pink, or painting their nails, or whatever.
I loved this Ensemble photoshoot from Rob Tennent, conducted entirely outdoors and with masks on.
GQ’s guide to outerwear for men may be aimed at the Fall/Winter seasons, but given socialising this spring/summer is going to be almost entirely outdoors, worth a look for this side of the world, too!
Harry Waugh, best known as Verboten Intern on TikTok, is a crack up voice for the hospo worker, and I enjoyed this interview with him about his favourite Tāmaki spots.
Checks Downtown got a surprise delivery of Maggie’s Organic socks, which are my favourite chunky socks. I already own three tie dye pairs and one in a natural off-white, so this lovely olive pair was a no brainer for me.
This week is going to be huge for local menswear drops: expect heat coming from Olivia Cashmore (if you needed proof that ribbed tanks and short shorts are the vibe this summer), Checks Downtown (these pants are truly *heart eyes emoji*), Maggie Marilyn, and probably more. Spring is on!
Why you should vote in the Entrust elections to get more free money from your power bill and save the climate (maybe).
My partner bought one of these Poplin shirts from Asuwere to wear oversized over shorts through summer, and it’s very nice for that purpose. By a size bigger than usual, wear it open over a ribbed tank, profit (look cool and sexy at your socially distanced function).
That’s all for clipboard this week, thanks for reading! I hope you’re enjoying a restful long weekend at home, just like me, and not working or worrying too much, despite everything going on. I’ll be back here, same time, same place, next week. See you on Sunday.
